WeddingsI love photographing weddings and cannot think of a happier job. This has been my fulltime career since 2001. I am a professional photographer and am one of the few Louisville/Lexington photographers who have a degree in photography. Since I started Liz Images Wedding Photography, I have photographed over 200 weddings! At the end of 2010 I moved from Louisville to Lexington because I fell in love with a wonderful and amazing man. I am now doing weddings on a LIMITED BASIS while I focus on my Fine Art Photography and enjoying my new life. This means I do book up fast. Please book my services EARLY. And although I do live in Lexington now, I am in Louisville about once a week and am happy to meet you there. I am also photographing weddings in Lexington, Kentucky.
What to expect from Liz Images Wedding Photography And this goes for grooms, too! Liz Images Wedding Photography Information GuideSometimes brides will say to me, “I don’t know how to do this. I’ve never been a bride before! What should I do first?” Choosing a wedding photographerI invite you to browse my site, especially looking at the photos in my gallery on the What Gallery page 1 and Gallery page 2. Also, I have posted pictures from over 70 Louisville area wedding and reception venues on my Where page. You may find photos from your wedding or reception venues. If you don’t find your sites on this page, please feel free to email me as I have more pictures on file. I also have a rates and services page, please visit that to see if the photography services I offer fit your budget. Ok, if you like what’s on my website, what should you do next?If you like what you see, and are interested in learning more, please email me. Tell me your wedding date and where you are getting married. I can probably send you more pictures and –this is crucial- tell you if I’m available. I book up fast...especially since I am now only accepting bookings on a Limted Basis. Please realize that I can photograph ONLY ONE wedding a day. It is almost never too early to book your wedding photography. You can also call my studio at 502.261.9289. Deciding to meet with me or to reserve the date now (before meeting me)Sometimes, I book weddings before meeting the client. This happens when the client knows she is ready to book my services, lives out of state, or is simply too busy to meet in the near future. Booking before we meet also happens when the wedding date is a popular date that is in-demand and the client does not want to risk that date getting booked up before a meeting can be scheduled. In these cases we typically will talk on the phone first to discuss the day and what you’d like for your wedding photography. I had one bride who was living in Germany and we did everything via email. Just know that I am willing to set up an appointment to talk in detail on the phone or provide detailed answers to your questions via email, whichever you prefer. Once you decide to book me, I’ll email you a Reservation Form which you will return with a $500 check to hold the date. The date is not officially reserved until the check has been received. The retainer is non-refundable and gives you the exclusive right to that day. These funds are applied to the total cost of your wedding photography. If we don’t meet before you book me, we will definitely set up a time to meet before the wedding. We typically will meet face-to-face to talk more about your wedding day before booking my services. I call this meeting the Initial Consultation and it generally takes about an hour. This is a good opportunity to see how well we mesh/bond/connect. Do you realize that your wedding photographer is probably the one vendor who will spend the majority of the day with you? If your wedding is in Louisville, I am in town at least once a week so I’m happy to meet you there. I live in Lexington and can easily meet you in the Lexington area. Are you ready to meet with a wedding photographer? You are ready to meet with a wedding photographer if you have your wedding date firmly decided. You do not need to have finalized your ceremony and reception sites as long as you are sure your wedding date will not change. It is also a good idea to be prepared to write a check, or to mail one in soon after in order to reserve your wedding photographer. If you are planning to meet with several photographers, please make appointments with them all during the same week. This will lessen the chance of disappointment should you lose the date of your favorite photographer. It is $500 to reserve your wedding date. At the time of reservation you do not need to know how many hours you want photography or even where your wedding will be. You can decide that later. Any monies paid go toward the package you ultimately choose. Who should attend the Initial Consultation?I typically meet with the bride only, bride and groom, bride and best friend, bride and her parents, bride and mother of the bride, and any combination therein, sometimes including your wedding planner if you are using one. Please bring only people who have an interest in your wedding photography who can help you make this important decision. Otherwise, they may be bored and you may end up more concerned that they are entertained instead of remaining focused on your wedding plans. If the bride and groom live out of state and the parents of either the bride or the groom would like to meet me, that’s perfectly fine. What items to bring to the Initial Consultation? If you have anything pertaining to your wedding day that you would like to share, please bring them. Examples include a wedding binder, wedding day timeline, details about the wedding ceremony or the reception hall, description of your wedding dress, the flowers or your decorations. Or you could bring nothing at all- except an interest in your wedding pictures! Most people just show up ready to hear more about my services, and to share more about their wedding day. I typically will bring proof books showing a complete wedding and my laptop with a full library of wedding and reception images, along with pen and paper to take notes. Surprisingly, many wedding photographers meet with their clients and do not take notes! Happily, I am not one of them :) What will we talk about?Initially I will want to establish a rapport or connection with the bride and groom, their parents or whomever is at the meeting. I’m always interested in how-we-met stories and want to hear how he proposed! In getting to know you, I will learn what is important to you. Only by knowing what is important to you will I know what is important to photograph on your wedding day. We may talk about the fact that he surprised you by designing your engagement ring. Or that you both are crazy about basketball, or dogs or the color yellow. That you love photos where you two are laughing…or kissing…or walking away. Or that family pictures are super-important. Or that you camped out all night in order to reserve the garden ceremony site of your dreams and so you want lots of pictures of that. Mainly we will talk in broad strokes about what types of images you want and what your vision is for you wedding memories. There is a second meeting where we will go over all the details. By the time your wedding day is here I will know all the pictures you want so you are free to just relax and enjoy your day. One of the most important things we do at the initial meeting is to make a custom timeline of your day. Since all of my wedding photography packages are time-based, it is very helpful to map out the flow of your wedding day. This way you can be sure I will be there to capture the parts of your day that are most important to you. My clients report that this timeline becomes a valuable tool that they refer to again and again when booking their limo, DJ, etc. Together we will create this timeline and it is yours to keep regardless of whether you book me. After the timeline is complete, I will go over my rates with you and discuss the start and stop times for your wedding day photography. We will explore various options until you feel comfortable with the right amount of time for you. We will talk about any add-ons such as proof books or a second photographer. And then I will present you with a total for my services. At this point, you will either sign up and leave a $500 deposit that will be applied to your package, or take the information with you to discuss with friends and family. After you have reserved your day, you will get a copy of the Reservation Form explaining that you have the exclusive right to that day. After you choose your wedding photography package, I will give you a standard wedding photography contract filled in with all the details as far as length of service, your ceremony and reception address, the bride and groom's address, and - of course- your wedding date. The Second MeetingThere is a second meeting one month before the wedding day. We will go over every photo you want and all the details. This is the time to tell me your favorite aunt is flying in and you would like a picture with her, and all the other specific pictures you want. Don’t worry, I have a really detailed worksheet that you’ll get before the meeting. Much of it just asks you to go through and circle what you want. It took me five years to hone and create this Wedding Worksheet and it’s a huge help to you and me both! I don’t want to bother you with certain pictures that you don’t want, anymore than I want miss anything that you do want. It’s too early to go through all the details during our first meeting but the 30 day time frame works perfectly as by then you’ll have a better idea of your ceremony program and the flow of your reception. Please know that on your wedding day, you will be free to enjoy your day and not think about pictures. We will have all the details covered by then so you can just savor each moment of your big day. Here’s an example of special things that I’m told before the wedding. These are real things that have happened in my years of shooting weddings. When you read them, you’ll see why it is important that your wedding photographer know these details: The bride is wearing her grandmother’s veil We can meet in person or do the second meeting over the phone or via email. Sometimes I will meet the bride and groom at the church or ceremony site to talk about wedding day plans. This is often the case for garden ceremonies that are held in the backyards of private residences. I will use this time to check the lighting and familiarize myself with the site. I will also scout the venue for good romantic photo ops. If I have never photographed a wedding at your church I will always visit it prior to the wedding, even if we are not able to meet there together. ‘Like’ my page on FacebookI’m always posting my newest wedding pictures on my Liz Images Wedding Photography Facebook page.
